This panel will discuss the potential futures of collective funding models for OA book publishing. Recent years have seen a growing number of initiatives approaching a diverse set of libraries and other institutions for direct forms of financial support. Within the COPIM project, this includes Opening the Future and the recently launched Open Book Collective. Panel members will be asked to introduce the key issues that they expect collective funding models to confront in the coming years and where there might be potential to reimagine collective funding futures. This will be followed by collective discussion. The panel will comprise representatives from libraries, library consortia, and initiatives working to deliver collective funding for OA books.
Speakers: Peter Barr (University of Sheffield), John Sherer (University of North Carolina Press), Gillian Daly (SCURL), Caroline Mackay (Jisc).
